""Her health has been good recently and she has gained several pounds on her newly revised home feeding program. All the natural ingredients are blended and this has led to improved nutritional status and avoidance of needing bowel meds.
Assessment: Severely involved child with recent progress with regards to nutritional status, weight gain and head control.""

"Ayden stared the blended diet (BD) at the age of about 16 months. At that time his reflux was really bad, he wasn't gaining, and one of his doctors commented how he looked a little sickly. He was on formula, which was the same formula he had been on since birth. After starting the blended diet, although his weight didn't skyrocket at the time, rather he began to look healthier and something even better is that he gained so much strength and started walking around while holding on to things. In our personal experience, I think the BD is much more natural for a child Ayden's age. Although it may take some extra time to make, I believe it's worth it 1000x over."

"It has been one whole year since we've opened a can of formula to feed our son!! Yeah! How terrific it is to feed him such good food! It seems like yesterday that I was trying to get up the nerve to just jump into BD. I was so nervous and anxious and now, I would never ever go back to formula! Just wanted to share our milestone!"

Stella's third Birthday!
Thank you, to the parents in our support group whom have granted us permission to share the image of their child.
"My son's name is Tom he has Noonan's syndrome, and is teeny weeny!! - at 5, he's about 90cm (he's grown in height a lot since BD), and about 12.5kg. He's in mainstream school, wheelchair dependent due to stamina problems. My paediatrician initially said yes because there was no scientific reason to stop him having food - only protocols about Gtubes.
For the record, I have never once had a blockage. since starting BD, buttons have lasted up to 6 months as opposed to a maximum of 3 months before. Extension tubes used to last about 3 days, now they last weeks. Tom stopped vomiting daily within three days of starting BD. He now vomits about twice a month. His colour changed immediately.
The first year of BD showed enormous growth, where in the previous year he
had gained almost noweight at all. In the second year, he started school. this has taken great toll on him
physically. He has grown in height, and managed to keep a stable weight. I will NEVER go back to formula!"

" I've been doing BD for my 3 yr old, Benjamin for a couple months now. I
LOVE the positive results we are seeing! I am, for the most part, throwing
everything fresh or frozen into our new Vita-mix and having few problems."

"August 28, 2008 - Well, Joey has progressed to doing something he NEVER did before. For two weeks, he has been reaching his hand toward the cup of blended food when I come to tube-feed him. It was a different kind of reach. He did not have the rebellious face. In fact, I would maybe call it a curious look. I want to emphasize here, that Joey has NEVER had any trouble aspirating or swallowing. He does not drool. His refusal to eat is ALL EMOTIONAL. If he had any problems swallowing or choking, I never would have tried what I'm about to tell you.
So I began putting the tip of my finger in his food, when he reaches, (he won't let a spoon anywhere near his face) asking him "want a taste?" and dabbing it on the tip of his tongue, smacking my lips, and saying "yum!
yum!" He would shake his head violently back and forth, and roar in anger. But the taste was in there, though he did not close his mouth. I wondered what it must be like for him after 25 years! After that two week period or so, he still flopped his head back and forth, but only made one squawk. Then, one day, miracle of miracles, he closed his mouth and smacked his tongue around, then swallowed!
For about a week now, he has been letting me put the dab in without fighting. Then, he's been closing his mouth after the dab, when he feels like it, and swallowing. I think this could delicately be defined as eating, which makes it the first time he has ever eaten by mouth in his 25 years of life. More than that - he puts his hand back to the bowl another,
or even several times, for which he gets another dab, one for each reach, over a five minute period or so. He has never permitted a spoon anywhere near his face, but my finger must be different for him. I believe he is actually enjoying tasting my cooking! I actually believe he reaches for the bowl so I will put a dab in his mouth. I can barely believe this. It may pass, like some of his other achievements, but I'm certainly enjoying it while it lasts!
Another surprise is that he is allowing me to wipe the food off his face and beard without the normal hysterics.
I wasn't trying to get him to eat. I had no hope for that. I just wondered if he would like to taste what I was putting in there, now that it smells and tastes so good. You're the only people in the world that I know, who would be in the least interested. Thanks for listening."
